Abstract: Camouflage of Scarring Alopecia By Using Follicular Unit Transplantation
نویسندگان
چکیده
METHODS: We enrolled 12 consecutive male patients affected with androgenic alopecia at our private practice. Patients were excluded if they were or had been under treatment with oral finasteride or laser or injectable treatment for hair regrowth in the previous 6 months. Patients under topical minoxidil (2% or 5%) were given a wash out period of 60 days. Each patient was given a single injection session of nanofat, following the microbolus technique over the interested areas of the scalp. One area was selected as control and was not treated. The nanofat was obtained from the liposuction aspirate using the Tulip NanoTM kit device and immediately after it was injected in the treated scalp area. Each patient underwent trichoscopy of the sample marked area and a thricogram examination at baseline, and then 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after treatment by a blinded physician. A patient satisfaction VAS score was also recorded at the post-treatment visits. Adverse events were recorded at each follow up.

Polarized microscopy as a helpful tool to distinguish chronic nonscarring alopecia from scarring alopecia.
BACKGROUND Nonscarring alopecia differs from scarring alopecia on pathologic examination by the preservation of follicular units and lack of follicular dropout. However, long-standing cases of active nonscarring hair loss can show follicular dropout on pathologic examination and can be difficult to interpret. OBSERVATIONS We describe a patient with nonscarring alopecia that was misdiagnosed a...

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effic...

TTA has been associated with several disorders, such as Phakomatosis Pigmentovascularis. Hair restoration surgery using follicular unit transplantation has been a successful treatment modality for TTA. Herein we report such a success that was susta...

UNLABELLED Since 1959, when Norman Orentreich described the phenomenon of donor dominance in androgenic alopecia and opened the way to hair transplantation, the field of hair replacement surgery has been evolving continuously. Advances in the last 15 years, particularly the microscopic dissection of donor strips into follicular units, have eradicated the idea that follicular transplantation is ...
